Apparently, the MWC 2015 event for BlackBerry has not been quite eventful as the HTC’s or Samsung’s conference. During the BlackBerry press conference, the company reportedly introduced the BlackBerry Leap, in addition to announcing new colours for the BlackBerry Classic smartphone. But then, out of nowhere, the Canadian tech giant reportedly announced a device that was not rumoured earlier. The device in focus is a “two-sided curved display clad slider phone.”

BlackBerry Slider Phone

This unnamed BlackBerry slider phone reportedly features a double-edged display, similar to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, points out GSM Arena. Meanwhile, the handset will apparently come with an "all-touch display,” says the official Twitter account. Adding a cherry on top, a physical QWERTY keyboard is reportedly hidden on the rear that can be slid out. Pocket Lint points out that the upcoming unnamed device will run on BlackBerry OS 10. With a good mix of retro and unconventional look, this phone is apparently referred to as "the Slider.” Notably, the physical keyboard of the slider phone could be a deal breaker for many potential buyers. In any case, apart from showing the device, BlackBerry has not confirmed any of the specifications or availability of the slider phone so far.

Key BlackBerry MWC 2015 Announcements

According to BlackBerry’s official blog, John Chen, the CEO of BlackBerry, apparently emphasised the importance of the execution of the “cross-platform enterprise strategy.” He further elaborated by pointing the partnership with Samsung on the Knox platform and also supporting Google’s Android for Work. To top it off, the latest enhancements to BBM have reportedly been tightly integrated with Android and thereby, it helps in improving the usability. Chen also touched upon the importance of the expansion of the “enterprise software portfolio.” He further added that, “the new BES12 Cloud makes it easier for companies, especially small-to-medium-sized ones, to secure their iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices.”

Meanwhile, BlackBerry is reportedly focusing on several regulated industries with security as a priority. To be specific, healthcare is going to be one such domain/industry. To further corroborate the importance given to the healthcare domain, it is worth recalling that, BlackBerry recently launched eight new healthcare apps and apparently, five customers are utilising BlackBerry’s solutions.
