Microsoft kick started the Build conference on April 29 in San Francisco. The ‘Build’ is an annual developer conference hosted by Microsoft and was first held in 2011. The event targets software and web developers using Windows, Windows Phone, Microsoft Azure and other technologies from Microsoft. On the first day of the Build conference, Microsoft announced new features in Windows 10 and displayed a set of software development kits (SDKs) that will enable developers to bring their code for the Web, Win32, .NET, Android and iOS to Windows 10, according to reports.

Microsoft also announced new Microsoft Azure data services, .NET tools, Visual Studio and runtimes for Windows, Linux and Mac, along with APIs that will help developers to build apps with Office 365, according to details shared by Microsoft in its official webpage.

"Microsoft has bold ambitions for platforms that empower developers across Windows, Azure and Office," Microsoft’s official webpage quoted, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, as saying. "Together, we will create more personal and more intelligent experiences that empower billions of people to achieve more," expressed Nadella.

Microsoft’s open source implementation software, .NET Core will be available as a preview for Linux and Mac OS, which will help developers in building cloud applications on multiple platforms, reports The Next Web. Windows users can use .NET Core RC and start debugging. Microsoft has also released the Visual Studio Code, a code editor designed for Mac and Linux, mentions The Next Web report.

Microsoft also announced the arrival of new Azure services that include Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Azure Data Lake. The Azure SQL Data Warehouse allows companies to monitor data and queries and the Azure Data Lake is a huge data storehouse, as per The Next Web report.

At the Build conference, Microsoft also showcased cross platforms integration for Office 2016, announced carrier billing for all Windows 10 devices and declared that it will now allow Android and iOS apps to run on Windows 10, reported The Next Web. The company revealed the official name of the Spartan browser. Project Spartan is now officially named ‘Microsoft Edge’. Besides that, Microsoft also announced Windows 10 Continuum for phones, as per The Next Web report.

Microsoft unveiled the Windows Holographic platform that will allow developers to create Windows 10 apps that works on the headset, reports CNET. The company has not revealed any details of the HoloLens and the price of the headset is yet to be announced, as per the CNET report.
