Level-5 has been making the rounds lately. After a big announcement regarding mobile sequels to “Professor Layton” and “Fantasy Life,” the publisher has also announced a new intellectual property, or IP in “Snack World,” while also bringing one of the company’s most popular properties in Japan, “Yo-Kai Watch” to the West for the 3DS.

“Yo-Kai Watch” is a game that many consider to be a possible rival to Nintendo’s other popular franchise “Pokemon.” Both games have a similar concept involving young children capturing imaginative creatures. However, while Pokemon were just creatures that roamed the world of the games, the monsters in “Yo-Kai Watch” are actually spirits that can only be seen through a special watch.

Gamespot discovered that the “Yo-Kai Watch” would indeed be coming to Western shores soon, though the exact date has yet to be revealed. Meanwhile a sequel to the game “Yo-Kai Watch 2” has already come out in Japan, along with a popular anime based on the game. Back in February, Polygon reported that popular toy company Hasbro would be bringing “Yo-Kai Watch” toys to the west thanks to a deal with Dentsu Entertainment and TV Tokyo, the franchise’s representatives.

Another announcement made was the announcement of a new IP called “Snack World.” Reported by Siliconera, this game looks like a new roleplaying game from the company, who’ve had experience with other RPG’s like “Dragon Quest VIII.” The company has plans to release “Snack World” on both the 3DS and Smart Phones.

“Snack World” looks to be the next big Level-5 franchise after the massive success of “Yo-Kai Watch” in Japan. Along with the announcement of a game heading to 3DS and Smart Phones, Level-5 also stated that “Snack World” would also be getting an anime, just like their other franchise “Yo-Kai Watch.”

Given that the IP was just announced, there doesn’t appear to be any plans to bring “Snack World” to the West just yet. Given that “Yo-Kai Watch” will be coming to Western shores soon, it’s very possible that Level-5 will be bringing “Snack World” to the rest of the world sooner rather than later, though that remains to be seen.
