Paul Hellquist, the creative director of the hit game "Borderlands 2" has joined Robot Entertainment. Prior to his hiring, he was a veteran developer of Gear Box for several years and was also the creative director for the critically acclaimed game "Bioshock" for Irrational Games.

"It's always difficult to leave a place you've spent a huge chunk of your career, but it is always exciting as well," he says. On the company blog, Robot Entertainment announced that Hellquist would be involved in their latest game in the "Orcs Must Die!" franchise "Orcs Must Die! Unchained" as well as other future projects.

Robot entertainment is most known for their "Orcs Must Die" games that mix the standard MOBA formula with a third-person action element and have been exclusive to PC through digital distribution. The franchise has had two games so far in "Orcs Must Die!" and "Orcs Must Die! 2" with the previously mentioned "Orcs Must Die! Unchained" as the third game to be released and will be the first to hit a console in Sony's PlayStation 4.

Both games had players be a War Mage who is the last living member of The Order. The Order was an alliance of wizards and warriors who guarded The Rifts, the magical portals between the human world and the dead world. After a surprise attack that left the War Mage as the only living member of The Order, he vowed to defend all the rifts from the Orcs who must die, hence the title. The sequel added a second playable female character and a two-player co-op mode.

A report from Game Informer stated that Hellquist was supposedly involved with the making of "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel" and a high definition remake of "Homeworld," which 2K won from an auction by former game company THQ. It is unknown if he finished development for "Homeworld" or if development will continue without him. Hellquist's first project for the company "Orcs Must Die! Unchained" will be having a closed beta test soon for PC, though it's unknown if the PlayStation 4 version will be getting one.
