"Doctor Who" is returning for its special annual segment airing on Dec. 25, 2014. The network is set to feature Peter Capaldi's first and the series' 10th Christmas special, and it is definitely going to be an explosive one. The episode is titled "Last Christmas" and will see the return of the 12th Time Lord and Clara alongside some new characters. Peter Capaldi's Time Lord and his assistant Clara Oswald are ready to undertake a new journey to save the world. BBC revealed the synopsis of the episode on its official website, teasing exciting spoilers.

According to the report, the 12th Doctor and his assistant Clara "face their Last Christmas." At the start, however, it may not be a joyous occasion for the two. They find themselves trapped in a remote arctic base. To make matters worse, the place is under attack by terrifying creatures.

It will be interesting to see how the adventure-loving duo deals with the dangerous creatures. Clues are hidden in the trailer videos released by the network, giving a brief glimpse of the Christmas Special episode. The first sneak peek was released at the end of the "Doctor Who" Series 8 Finale. The promo video published on the network's official YouTube channel gives a glimpse of the "terrifying creatures."

Over a period of time, more teasers surfaced. One of the promo videos (as published by BBC America on YouTube) shows the arrival of Santa Claus and his companions, the red-nosed reindeer Rudolph and elves. "What seems to be the problem?" asks Santa. It looks like he's there to help the Doctor deal with the new danger in North Pole.

Furthermore, the network released several photos from the"Doctor Who" 2014 Christmas Special "Last Christmas." The images show Peter Capaldi in action. The photos were published on Comic Book.

A press release by BBC America listed 12 reasons for fans to watch the episode. According to the report, "Last Christmas" features an all-star cast including Dan Starkey (Ian), Michael Troughton (Professor Albert), Natalie Gumede (Ashley Carter), Maureen Beattie (Bellows) and Faye Marsay (Shona). Joining Peter Capaldi's Time Lord and Jenna Coleman's Clara Oswald in their adventure is Nick Frost as Santa Claus. Also, the episode may reveal the answer to the burning question: Will Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) return for the 2015 series of "Doctor Who" alongside Peter Capaldi?
