‘Doctor Strange’ leaked set photo sparks theories about its location
“Doctor Strange” will spearhead the introduction of the magical realm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This much has been confirmed by the photo posted by Marvel Studios’ co-president Louis D’Esposito on Twitter.
The picture did not provide any glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch in character. D’Esposito explained in the comments that it was taken while the actor was in costume and therefore could not be shown to the public.

The set looks similar to the ones printed in the comics, complete with mystical markings and pieces that looked like artifacts. Fans noted that the artifact-looking object behind the men in the picture looks like the Eye of Agamotto. In the comic books, the Eye of Agamotto is part of Doctor Strange’s Vishanti, a fictional triumvirate of powerful beings that grants occult power and knowledge to sorcerers.
The green background suggests that the set will be enhanced in the post-production with the addition of several digital effects.
Spoilers and updates regarding the film was hardly leaked save for the photo of Cumberbatch filming in Nepal.
The plot of the upcoming “Doctor Strange” film has not been released but ScreenRant has a couple of guesses: it could be the Sanctum Sanctorum, a disguised townhouse in Greenwich Village, New York, which is the home of Doctor Strange or the lair Doctor Strange’s mentor, The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).
In an interview, Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige told Birth. Movies. Death, “The Sanctum is on Bleeker Street, the modern day Bleeker Street. He will be the strangest thing walking out onto that street.”
Feige also said that the film will not be set in Tibet but hinted that the fictional isolated community of Kama-Taj, will be featured. “Not Tibet. Strange leaves New York in search of something and heads east,” he said.
“Doctor Strange” is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 films. The movie is slated for release on Nov. 4, 2016.
