Daniel James Holdom, the man charged with the murder of Karlie Pearce-Stevenson in October, has been arrested and is also expected to be charged with the murder of Khandalyce Kiara Pearce, the two-year-old daughter of Pearce-Stevenson.

The 41-year-old man was charged with the murder of the 20-year-old mother in October, seven years after her remains were discovered in Belanglo state forest. Khandalyce’s skeletal remains were found dumped in a suitcase by the Karoonda Highway in South Australia's Murray Mallee. No charges for her murder have been laid so far.

The ABC reported that Holdom was arrested by police on Tuesday morning and taken to the Parramatta Police Station for interrogation. The police are expected to address the media in NSW and South Australia simultaneously at 1:00 p.m. (AEDT).

The remains of the mother and the daughter were discovered seven years apart and it was only in October that the investigators found a link between the two discoveries after a Crime Stopper’s tip off and a DNA report.

The investigation that stretched across four states -- NSW, South Australia, ACT and the Northern Territory -- revealed that a large scale fraud took place in the name of the mother and daughter after their deaths. Around $90,000 were withdrawn from the Pearce-Stevenson’s bank account.

The duo left their family and home in Alice Springs between 2006 and 2008, reportedly intending to travel and work, and were reported missing by Pearce-Stevenson’s mother on Sep. 4, 2009. But according to police, the report was later withdrawn. Her mobile was used to call family to make it seem like she was still alove. The phone was also used to ask money from Pearce-Stevenson’s mother, who died in 2012 of cancer.

Pearce-Stevenson was last spotted with Khandalyce driving a car on the Stuart Highway near Coober Pedy on Nov. 8, 2008.
