Curb Your Enthusiasm, the popular HBO comedy series, has wrapped up production for its ninth season and will be returning on the air in the fall of 2017, per reports. The lengthy gap between seasons 8 (2011) and 9 (2017) led some to speculate that Larry David & Co. had given up on the show.

However, David wore his writing cap once again last June and simply said: "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned" soon after HBO announced a ninth season. After filming most of season 8 in New York City, David and the rest of the crew returned to Los Angeles for the ninth instalment. According to Richard Lewis, the show finished filming the ninth season on Mar. 27. (See tweet below).

David, the co-creator of 'Seinfeld,' was admittedly forced into writing a ninth season after enduring peer pressure from fans, co-stars and HBO. When the show was off the air for six years, several cast members hinted that David had lost the motivation to write another season. Most recently, regular cast member Mary Steenburgen said David kept everyone in the dark about his future plans. “It (has been) so long now, that we really didn’t know if it (season 9) was going to happen. And we never got a straight answer out of him (David) when we would ask him over the last couple years. And people asked us constantly, ‘When’s Curb coming back?’"Steenburgen told EW in an interview.

Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9 not the finale?

There's already chatter about a tenth season. According to several reports, HBO is trying to convince David to agree to a show-ending tenth season. Previously, there was a two-year gap between seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8. Going by that pattern, 'Curb Your Enthusiasm season 10' could be due for a 2019 release. J. B. Smoove, who debuted on the show during the sixth season, recently told EW that David ought to consider a tenth season. "Ten seasons looks good in the box set. Eight don't look—nine don't look good. Ten is perfect."

'Curb your enthusiasm season 9' is expected to be released in the fall of 2017. Besides David and Smoove (Leon Black), the ninth season will feature recurring cast members such as Richard Lewis (himself), Bob Einstein (Marty Funkhouser), Cheryl Hines (Cheryl David), Jeff Garlin (Jeff Greene), Susie Essman (Susie Greene), Ted Danson and others. Smoove, who has been actively promoting the show, recently hinted at the possibility of a few guest stars. In previous seasons, the likes of Shaquille O'Neal, Michael J. Fox and Ben Stiller have made guest appearances. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm season 9' release date.
