Former boxer Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini has joined a handful of other famous fighters who has shared their opinions on who they think will win the super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Mancini declared that, while both the undefeated American and the eight-division champion are special fighters, Mayweather will come out on top when the dust settles after the battle on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I think Mayweather beats him by decision. Not stoppage, decision,” Mancini said to ontheropesboxing.com when asked of his prediction of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. “I think he [Mayweather] would have beat him [Pacquiao] by decision, because he’s bigger, faster and stronger.”

In the same interview Mancini, who won lightweight and super lightweight titles during his career, put on his analyst’s hat as well admitting that Pacquiao’s style is bad for Mayweather Jr. and that he thinks Pacquiao will bring the fight early and often to Mayweather and it’s going to be interesting when they trade punches from the opening bell.

“Mayweather likes to lean to his right and Pacquiao doesn’t fight like a traditional southpaw, he does things backwards. Pacquiao moves to his left and so is his straight left hand. Mayweather bends his body right in line for a left hand,” The 54-year-old American, who finished his boxing career with 29-5 win-loss record and who was known knockout artist with 23 victories via KO, added when pressed about the Mayweather-Pacquiao super fight.

While Mancini recognised Pacquiao’s strengths— including the rather rare and unorthodox style against a defensive fighter like Mayweather Jr.— he remained steadfast in saying that his fellow American will still come away victorious come fight night.

Mayweather Jr. (47-0-0, 26 KOs) and Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) are in the thick of their respective training camps in the United States. The bout dubbed as “The Fight of the Century” is expected to break records both in ticket sales, live gate attendance and pay-per-view buys.
