The hype on the next-gen consoles have always been focused on the PS4 and the Xbox 720, and for the longest time, Nintendo's Wii U has been left behind farther as new game titles and exciting features keep popping up.

Now, the two next-gen consoles takes another step forward away from the Wii U, as Ars Technica reports that the Wii U is not powerful enough to handle Frostbite 3, the engine tailored for Battlefield 4.

""[Frostbite 3] has never been running on Wii U," said Johan Andersson, DICE Technical Director for Frostbite, in a tweet, as quoted by Ars Technica. "We did some tests with not too promising results with [Frostbite 2] and chose not to go down that path."

This spells bad news for Nintendo, following low sales numbers and a trudging fight to stay in the field of competitive gaming.

Though there have been efforts for some developers to even think of porting good games for the Wii U, or even an adapted Frostbite that could run in the Wii U, the hope for Nintendo to stay in the next-gen gaming league would be to have developments in the console itself.

Sony goes indie

Indie game lovers have something to look forward to as the PlayStation Store launches Indie Games, a section which will feature the latest indie titles for all PS platforms.

For the meantime, you can expect The Unfinished Swan, Journey, Guacamelee, and Thomas Was Alone in the section, reports GameSpot.

The Indie Games section seems to be in line with a slew of Sony's new indie releases. Though most of the games are slated for the PS Vita, the PS3 gamers can also look forward to great titles.

The Sixth Axis reports at least five titles that are coming to the PlayStation Store, led by The Vibrant World of Hohokum, a sandbox game. There's also Counterspy, a shooter game with a 60s vibe and slated for the PS3, PS Vita and mobile.

For those who are interested in a unique game where you'll be interacting with humanity and help solve their problems from the point of view of a robot, Game Informer reports that DOki Doki Universe may be for you. This indie game will be coming to the PS3, PS Vita, and even the PS4.

Two more indie games slated for the PS4 include Primal Carnage: Genesis and Blacklight: Retribution.

FIFA 14 slated for October?

EA's upcoming game FIFA 14 seems to have been outed by GAME UK, listing a release for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 for an October 4 release for $69.64.

At least this may be the release date and price for UK territory. VideoGamer reports that the official word from publisher EA has only revealed an autumn release (which is right around the time of the listed date) but there have been reports of an earlier listing in the US come September 24.

VG 24/7 adds that a September release would match last year's FIFA 13 launch, but if the latest date posted by GAME is to be followed, the US release come in a little later than the previous installment
