Plants vs. Zombies was a hit game back in 2009, pretty much the year for the slow rise of the zombie craze in gaming and pretty much everywhere else.

After four years, there's finally a sequel, and it's out in two months' time.

Popcap Games has officially announced the release date, though according to EuroGamer, there are still no details as to which platforms the game will be available in. However, if patterned after the first game, it's likely that Plants vs. Zombies 2 will be available for the PC, Mac, and mobile.

Star Wars Games to be continued by EA?

When LucasArts shut down, it felt as though the Star Wars game titles will no longer see fruition or the light of updates.

Now, Star Wars games have a future with Electronic Arts, as the company recently announced an exclusive deal with Disney for the new Star Wars titles, reports Game Informer.

"The magic of Star Wars is interwoven into the worlds, characters, planets, and amazing battles. It is a universe that lends itself perfectly to gaming," said Frank Gibeau, EA Labels president, in an official blog statement. "Our agreement unlocks a whole new future of Star Wars games that will span consoles, PCs, tablets, mobile, and more."

For the meantime, EA will be at the front of the Star Wars titles, while Disney can pitch in with ideas for online and mobile targets.

Exclusivity of Star Wars titles does put some danger of all the titles having the same flavor and take, as opposed to giving other developers and publishers a shot at different Star Wars titles.

And considering EA's reputation this year, there may be some doubts about which direction the publisher aims to take the franchise. Hopefully, it will see better launches compared to the SimCity disaster earlier this year.

The Sims 4 to launch in 2014, requires no Internet connection

EA is on a roll with its games, with an official announcement this time for The Sims 4. And unlike its building game SimCity, this upcoming game lets you play a single-player game with no Internet connection necessary.

GameSpot reports that the follow-up to The Sims 3 is now more focused on allowing players to just explore their own world first to take advantage of the single-player offline mode.,

"The Sims 4 encourages players to personalize their world with new and intuitive tools while offering them the ability to effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans," said EA in a statement to GameSpot.

Expect The Sims 4 next year, but the platforms for release have not yet been announced. Though it's a five-year wait, the added bonus of no more always-online may be worth it. Now, when will EA make that option available for SimCity?
