Ming-Chi Kuo, the ever-credible KGI Securities analyst with a track record for predicting near-perfect device specs, is back with his forecasts for the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 series. Similar to the current-generation iPhone 6s Plus, the successor will also come with a jumbo variant dubbed iPhone 7 Plus, apart from the regular flagship and a rumored 4.0-inch model.

Tech Website Apple Insider received a copy of the upcoming iPhone-related details from a research note published by KGI Securities with information provided by component suppliers. Based on the report, the Apple iPhone 7 specifications will include a pocket-friendly 4.7-inch display and 2 GB of RAM.

The bigger iPhone 7 Plus, however, will reportedly feature a solid 3 GB of RAM. In comparison, the current-generation iPhone 6s flagship and the bigger sibling come with just 1 GB and 2 GB of RAM, respectively.

Under the hood, the upcoming smartphones are expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation processor, also referred as Apple A10. The Cupertino tech giant debuted the “Plus” variant in 2014 alongside the well-received iPhone 6. The main difference between the smaller and the bigger variants is the size.

Thanks to the Android counterparts that generously offer nearly 6.0-inch displays, Apple had no other option but to join the display size war with its iPhones. As a testament to the demand for bigger screen size, CNet last May reported the iPhone 6 Plus leads the phablets pack with a whopping 44 percent sales.

Apart from the display size, the jumbo siblings also come with better camera sensors. Not to forget the optical image stabilization (OIS) support specific to the primary cameras of the Plus variants.

As for the iPhone 7 release date, the flagship will reportedly be introduced sometime in September 2016. Kuo apparently hinted the upcoming handset will be the slimmest among other iPhones.

Citing an earlier rumors, Apple Insider says Apple might opt for a brand new design for the upcoming iPhones. Nevertheless, readers are advised to take the reported iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus specifications with the proverbial pinch of salt as the tech giant hasn’t confirmed any information thus far.
