U.S. stocks fell sharply in the opening minutes of trading on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average weakened 382.43 to 34,297.17 at 9:31 a.m. ET.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index decreased 54.77 to 4,303.67.

The NASDAQ Composite Index moved lower 234.49 to 14,441.77.
