Carol (Melissa McBride) will be in a relationship with Ezekiel (Khary Payton) in “The Walking Dead” season 9, and Daryl (Norman Reedus) will give his blessing. Details about an unreleased scene reveal a conversation between Carol and Daryl about this new relationship.

AMC reportedly released a new clip from the upcoming season at a special preview recently. According to a report by ComicBook.com, this scene involved a conversation between Carol and Daryl.

The scene reportedly involves Daryl and Carol sitting outside at night. Daryl is smoking, and Carol puts it out for him, saying that it will kill him. He asks her why she isn’t sleeping, and she asks him the same question, adding “We don’t sleep.”

That is when Carol mentions that Ezekiel sleeps like a baby, which is annoying to her. "he's alright. He's a bit corny, but..." Daryl says, essentially approving of the relationship. "I'm glad I have pookie's approval," Carol says. "After what I went through with Ed, corny is nice." Daryl then says that she deserves to be happy.

Daryl and Carol were supposed to be a couple in this season, after everything that they have been through. It appears that a lot has happened during the time jump, and Carol is now with Ezekiel.

Meanwhile, Daryl’s relationship with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) isn’t going that great either. There was tension between the two characters in the last season, and this tension will play out in season 9.

According to a report by ComicBook.com, Reedus talked about the tension between his character and Rick in a recent interview. “There’s definitely a fracture in that bone, but it’s been a slow fracture for a while now. And it’s sort of built up to a tension,” Reedus said. The actor also teased that the two characters will patch up eventually.
