An emotional fan of Troye Sivan broke down to tears when the YouTube star-turned-musician appeared for the first time in Australian television. After performing on Tuesday’s edition of the “Today” show, Sivan welcomed questions from the audience. A fan got emotional as he recounted his struggle with his sexuality.

“In 2014 I came out and I was 14 years old and I didn't get much acceptance,” the guy, who was identified as Cody, said. “I got bullied really badly and then I moved to Sydney where I finally accepted myself. And if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be alive today.”

Troye, 21, was also bullied in a Perth private school, forcing him to be homeschooled instead. He came out as a gay man in a YouTube video in 2014. His coming-out video then paved the way to his social media stardom. It also propelled him to be the singer-songwriter that he is now.

Troye Sivan released his first album “Blue Neighbourhood” in December 2015, and just recently, “Blue Neighbourhood” Trilogy was nominated to the 2916 MTV Video Music Awards on Breakthrough Long Form Video.

Sivan is currently on his “Blue Neighbourhood” World Tour. He will visit Sydney, Cranberra, Brisbane, Wollongong, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this month before heading to England, Norway and Sweden. His tour ends with a performance at MGM Resorts Village in Las Vegas on Sep. 24.

An Internet sensation, Sivan has appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” The Late Late Show with James Corden” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Sivan started in show business in 2007 when he played Oliver Twist in theatre play and in 2009 when he played the young Logan in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine" film.

On social media, Sivan has over 4.3 million YouTube subscribers, 4.25 million followers on Twitter, and another 5 million followers on Instagram. Sivan’s recent music video “Wild” has already garnered 3.9 million views on YouTube after only being published for a 10 days.
