On Nov. 9, the 62nd edition of Miss Universe 2013 pageant will be held, for the first time, at Moscow's Crocus City Hall, Russia.

Different countries sent their bets to battle out other beauties. Being pageant enthusiasts, many are thrilled to see the increasing number of beauty queens participating in the Miss Universe pageant every year. However, many controversies surround the pageant this year. So, the enthusiasm was marred by a number of contestants withdrawing days before the coronation night. The blissful news become tainted.

Here's a list of contenders who either withdrew or were disqualified from the contest:

Miss Albania

Controversy around Miss Kosovo resulted in Fioralba Dizdari's withdrawal. Fadil Berisha, official photographer of Miss Universe, is the national director for both Albania and Kosovo, and as a safety precaution, he chose not to have Ms Dizdari participate as Kosovo cannot compete.

Miss Kosovo

Due to political reasons, Mirjeta Shala withdrew, as advised by Mr Fadil. Kosovo is not recognized as an independent country in Russia, and thus Ms Shala cannot represent her country.

Miss Namibia

Because the Miss Namibia organization could not finance her participation, Paulina Malulu had to withdraw from the pageant.

Miss Montenegro

Nikoleta Jovanović was disqualified as she did not meet the minimum age requirement.

Miss Cyprus

The date for Star Cyprus conflicts with Miss Universe. The winner of the modern Cypriot competition was supposed to represent the country in the MU pageant.

Miss Cayman Islands and Miss St. Lucia

Cayman Islands did not hold any beauty contests and thus, had no contender for this year's Miss Universe pageant.

Miss Ireland

The national competition was re-scheduled for next year. So Ireland failed to participate this year.

Miss Uruguay

Micaela Orsi withdrew officially from the contest after publishing a statement on her personal Facebook page. She explained that she decided to back out due to the lack of support from her national director, lack of planning and guidance and no sponsoring for wardrobe and other items for a proper participation in the contest.

So far, 86 delegates have arrived in Moscow to participate in this year's pageant.
