Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge have recently been released in selected regions. However, the next-generation device from the Note series of phablets has already grabbed the headlines. The latest news is that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phablet could reportedly house Samsung's own graphical processor unit i.e. GPU. Plus, a new concept design of the Note 5 portrays a powerful device.

Samsung's Exynos line of chipsets is based on ARM architecture, similar to other mobile processors. However, the graphics is supported by ARM's Mali unit. With the new in-house GPU, Samsung will give tough competition to both ARM and its rival Qualcomm. The South Korean conglomerate is expected to set the release of its new GPU towards the mid of 2015. And this new unit will reportedly be part of the next version of Exynos SoC, according to Phone Arena.

This also means that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could house a brand new Exynos chipset, says the same site. In comparison, Qualcomm's Snapdragon mobile-based chipsets utilise a custom-made Adreno GPU. Since it is customised according to Qualcomm's requirement, the company has good control over the thermal efficiency and the performance ratio. Going by Qualcomm's authority, it is quite evident that Samsung would also like to control its units.

Furthermore, a new Galaxy Note 5 concept design by Sahil Arora of TheGalaxyNote5.com showcases a spectacular phablet. According to the concept-reported specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a killer 4K screen resolution i.e. 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. Therefore, this display combination translates to 650 ppi of pixel density. This incredible phablet has razor-thin bezels and flaunts a sleek design. The concept also says the device will be powered by either Qualcomm's Snapdragon 81x SoC or a dodeca-core (i.e. 12) Samsung's Exynos 7xxx processor.

In addition, the handset is reportedly backed by a killer 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB/64 GB of internal storage capacity complete with an expandable storage of up to 128 GB. Moving on to the camera configuration, the device is speculated to feature an impressive 20.9 MP rear-facing unit and a respectable 5 MP shooter at the front. Lastly, the whole configuration is powered by a battery unit between 3,400 and 3,900 mAh.

It is a matter of time before we spot the Galaxy Note 5 in one of the benchmark testing sites to get a glimpse of what is in offer for 2015. What do you think of the Note 5? Feel free to leave a comment.
