Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Samsung Galaxy Note was the first phone that had big displays, but with many upcoming smartphone in the market, phablet are becoming very common. The Note has to encounter more competition than before. It has a biggest rival in LG G3 Stylus the flagship phone of LG.

Size and weight

The dimension of the Note 4 is 154mm x 79mm x 8.5mm. The G3 Stylus is 149.3mm x 75.9mm x 10.2mm. The Galaxy Note 4 lives up to its size. The Note has a bigger screen and is longer and wider than the LG G3 Stylus. The Note 4 Weighs 176g and the Stylus is 163g. The G3 Stylus could probably fit into a pocket easier than the Note 4 and it has lighter advantage when compared with the Note 4.

Build and colour

The Note 4 sports a faux leather metal edge. It has a leather finish same as the Note 3 and all else is plastic. The LG G3 Stylus has metal chassis and brushed aluminium-like plastic rear except the Note 4 has a metal wrapped around its edges and is available in 4 colours white, black, pink and gold. The Stylus will be available in gold, black and white.

Display (size, resolution and type)

The Galaxy Note 4 sports a 5.7 inch display, the Stylus too is close to the Note with a display of 5.5 inches. But the Stylus gives 93 percent of screen area as the Galaxy Note 4.The Note 4 resolution is 2,560 x 1,440 with density of 515 ppi when compared to the Note 3, the resolution of the Stylus is 540 x 960 with density of 200 ppi. Note 4 has an upgrade from the Note 3 to quad HD display and uses Super AMOLED screen display that has richer colour when compared to the IPS display of the Stylus.

Stylus

The Samsung S pen is the main feature to take notes, but the one in the Note 4 has more sensitivity. G3 Stylus is multi touch that also comes with a pen.

Heart rate monitor and Fingerprint sensor

These features are available on the Note 4 swipe based fingerprint sensor. The heart rate monitor is present on the rear of the Note 4. Stylus lacks these features.

Battery and ultra power saving mode

The battery capacity of the Note 4 is 3,220 mAh unlike the Stylus's that has a battery capacity of 3,000mAh. The Note 4 battery lasts longer. Samsung limits processes from running when it is low on battery and capable of prolonging the battery life up to 24 hours when the power runs low.

Camera and infra red

The LG G3 Stylus has a rear facing camera of 13 mp and front facing camera of 1.3 mp while Samsung wins in the pixel race as it sports a 16 mp rear and 3.7 mp front camera. Both have optical image stabilization and infra red that can be used as a universal remote control and Stylus has laser focus camera.

Virtual reality

The Note4 is equipped with the new gear VR headset powered by Oculus.

Storage

Both have micro SD slots but the Note is expandable up to 32 and 64 GB while the Stylus has internal storage of 8 GB and memory that can be expandable.

Processor and RAM

The Note 4 processor is Snapdragon 805 quad core with 2.7 GHz with 3 GB of RAM and the G3 Stylus has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad core processor with 1.3 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. Both phones run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Release

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be released on the 14th of October 2014. The G3 Stylus will be launched in September 2014. The date is not available. The Galaxy Note 4 will ship sometime in October.

Price

LG G3 Stylus price is unavailable when compared to the G3 it should be somewhere close to $600. The price of Note 4 is also not available but it could cost around $ 700 in the U.S.
