Ryan Gosling is sexy and he does not need any magazine's approval to prove it. The 34-year-old Hollywood hunk with a million dollar smile has reportedly turned down the title of "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine a number of times as he felt that he is "too serious" for the title. This year too the "Crazy Stupid Love" actor quashed the title and the magazine decided to name another Hollywood hottie, Chris Hemsworth, as the sexiest man alive, latest media reports reveal.

"They tried a few times, especially during his huge year in 2011. The consensus was he's too serious for it, too artsy," a source close to the actor's team revealed to The Wrap. The Wrap also spoke to People magazine on choosing Hemsworth for the title and the magazine replied that they "look forward" to a day when "The Notebook" actor will be named "Sexiest Man Alive" but it is not this year.

"Our 2014 honoree Chris Hemsworth was our first and only choice. If you want to know why, just look at him. I mean, seriously," said the spokesperson from the magazine to the website.

Ryan's fans on websites like Buzzfeed and Tumblr have been quite upset by People magazine for giving a cold shoulder to the actor for so many years now. There are pages dedicated to the cause of getting the title to the actor. In 2011, many of Gosling fans protested outside People magazine's office when Bradley Cooper was chosen as the "Sexiest Man Alive" instead of Ryan. Check out the pictures of the protest here.

In 2011, Change.org also has a petition titled "Admit Ryan Gosling should have been named Sexiest Man Alive 2011." The contents of the petition read that the People Magazine has "made a huge mistake" by choosing Bradley Cooper as the 2011 "Sexiest Man Alive." The 5000 plus petitioners believe that because of the release of "The Notebook," the year 2011 belonged to Gosling and he should be given the title.

Meanwhile, "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth succeeds last year's honoree Adam Levine, the Maroon 5 lead singer for the "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2014.
