However, The Lost Boys appears to be a proper description of the two Coreys who turned out to have been raped and abused sexually in Hollywood.

In 1986, while he was on the set of Lucas, Haim shared with Feldman a deep, dark secret he kept for years. He said an adult male convinced him that it was normal for older men and younger boys in show business to have sexual relations. The man brought Haim to a secluded area between two trailers where Haim, then 15, was sodomised.

However, Feldman wrote that Haim was actually raped at 11, and he turned to drugs to escape the shame of what he experienced.

For his part, Feldman also suffered sexual abuse from a man named Ron who was hired by his father to serve as his assistant. Ron also introduced him to drugs, and it was a demon the two Coreys battled for years.

Prior to Haim's death due to pneumonia in 2010, he was in and out of drug rehab centres for 15 times. In 2008, Haim shared with People magazine about his sex abuse and drug problems which he said scarred him for life.

Feldman blames a big shot in Hollywood for the abuse and death of Haim. The actor said that pedophilia remains the movie capital's biggest problem and darkest secret.
