Just days after Australia police discovered naked images of Australian school girls in a foreign porn website and chat forum, a Queensland high school suspended 22 students for involvement in porn ring. But the porn ring in Palm Beach Currumbin High School was only limited within the schoolyard.

The school ordered 22 Year 9 male and female students to stay home for three to 20 days for their involvement in the schoolyard porn ring, reports News.com.au. Among those suspended were students who received only the naked photos.

The father of one such male student says his son received one but did not forward it and was still suspended. “It’s mortifying to think this is going on and innocent kids are getting caught in the crossfire.”

But Principal Stephen Loggie says the 22 students he suspended last week were sharing inappropriate images. After their suspension, the 22 students would undergo again the cyber safety course, including case studies which highlight the danger of those types of activities.

Carmen Auer, general manager of Ohana Youth Service, says for many teens in the age group 13-15, the issue was going out of control since young people often do not understand the consequences of their action. “They’ve all got smartphones and Facebook so early and they just don’t realise when you send something like this, it doesn’t go away,” she explains.

A Department of Education spokeswoman confirmed the suspension of the 22 Palm Beach Currumbin State High School student. She points out unsafe online behaviour and inappropriate use of technology is a community-wide issue that schools and parents have a role to play in supporting students to make safe and proper choices online, Brisbanetimes reports.
