Another installment of the "Plants vs. Zombies 2" Behind the Brainz developer diary takes a look into the new plants that will be joining the cast of the game.

"We're able to give characters a little more volume," said David Ryan Paul, art director. "If you notice, when you're playing with the Pea Shooter, when he spits the pea out, he literally spits the pea out--it doesn't just come out of its mouth. We try to one-up everything that we could."

The Bonk Choy was revealed to be one of the new plants that have really low defense capabilities, but is really high in offense, as it is able to deliver punches and damages to zombies that are both in front and behind it.

Developer Terry Franguiadakis also shared a key strategy for using the Bonk Choy and maximizing its abilities.

"That plant works really well with other plants, like with the Wall-nut. So you just put the Wall-nut and then you put the Bonk Choy behind the Wall-nut and you have terrifying power."

One of the newer plants in the game is the Lightning Reed, which delivers lightning strikes to the zombies. As Michael Fromwiller, game engineer, put it, this is the best plant to take care of the chicken zombies from the Chicken Farmer zombie, as they are fast little critters that need to be taken care of with lightning speed.

The "Plants vs.Zombies 2" is also the first time where the developers were able to deliver really good toilet humour in the form of the Chili Bean, a pretty new plant that is pretty awesome though it's only good for one go.

Once a zombie eats the Chili Bean, you get to see just how a zombie deals with a very gassy tummy--and gives a new twist to a very bad tummy ache.

"This is where we we're able to be the five-year-old kids. There's PvZ's first fart joke," said Ryan.

'Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare' Teased for gamescom

Even before the game wa even revealed in more detail, "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare" has already been making headlines, particularly as a spectacular surprise game at last June's E3 event.

In fact, there, it garnered 21 nominations for the E3 awards, which include Best Shooter and Best of E3.

This time, EA released a new teaser video, in the hopes of amplifying the hype for the game for the coming gamescom.

According to the details that were already broadcasted about "Garden Warfare," you have four playable plants, the Sunflower, the Cactus, the Chomper and the Pea Shooter. But in the trailer, it was noticeable that there are other plants in the background, perhaps those that you will be spawning as you go through the game.

Some of these plants include the Gatling Pea, the Potato Mine, the Marigold and the Bonk Choy.

On the zombies' side of the territory, you have a number of new faces, such as a construction worker or engineer zombie, the soldier zombie, the mad scientist zombie and the football zombie, though this time, it looks like it's carrying a weapon-like contraption, which is perfect for a shooting game like this.

Don't forget about the giant zombie in the end that might be able to smash its way through.

EA's press briefing for gamescom will be on August 20 at 15: DST, where the upcoming plans and next steps for the "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare" will be revealed.
