A petition to boycott “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has exceeded its goal of 50,000 signatures after a segment that involved US first lady Melania Trump’s accent. The late-night host was in hot water after his monologue that appeared to mock US President Donald Trump’s wife reading a children’s book to kids during the White House Easter Egg Hunt.

The petition calling for the boycott of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has hit its goal, according to an update. The page claimed that the show “openly made fun” of the FLOTUS’ accent while his crowd laughed along. It also stated that the host reenacted the way the FLOTUS says "this and that.”

“Let's send a message that these attacks on our First Lady will NOT be tolerated!” it reads. The petition will be sent to the front door of Disney/ABC Studios in Burbank, CA.

Fox News host Sean Hannity called Kimmel a “despicable disgrace” for making fun of the FLOTUS as she read to children at the White House event. Hannity pointed out that English is Melania’s fifth language.

Kimmel reacted to Hannity’s comments, saying he and his fellow Fox News people have spent a lot of time talking about him because there was nothing important going on in the country right now. He also said what he thought was disrespectful to the first lady was cheating on her with a porn star after she has a baby. After being called an "ass clown," Kimmel countered and said Hannity was the "whole ass circus.”

In a statement on Twitter posted on Sunday, Kimmel said he will take Hannity at his word that he was genuinely offended by what he believed and still believe to be a harmless and silly aside referencing the FLOTUS’ accent. “Mrs Trump almost certainly has enough to worry about without being used as a prop to increase TV ratings,” he added. Kimmel also said he hopes Hannity will "continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants and First Ladies.”

There are no reported reactions from the advertisers of Kimmel’s show so far. ABC is home to dramas “How to Get Away With Murder,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” each of which helmed by activist Shonda Rhimes, Fox News reports.
