Optus is leading the way to unlimited Internet data. The telco, the second largest in Australia, has introduced new home broadband bundles, all with unlimited data, for new and recontracting customers.

From Monday, May 2, Optus is giving new and recontracting customers a range of unlimited data broadband choices. All home broadband bundles, according to Optus, have unlimited data. Customers can also save $20 a month off their bill when they include their Optus postpaid mobile with one of the new packages.

Optus already offers unlimited data on its broadband plans with the exception of its Basics range. Nevertheless, the new bundles give customers discounts for multiple services through the telco.

“With 31 percent of Australian households using content streaming services such as Netflix and Stan, the demand for data has never been greater,” Ben White, managing director of marketing and product, said in a statement. “Extending it to all our new broadband bundles means customers will never have to ration their broadband data, now they can get all of Optus’ entertainment offerings at once and have endless entertainment at home.”

He further explained, “Optus has great unlimited data bundles for customers connected to the NBN, Optus’ cable and ADSL 2+ network. Plus, customers to Optus’ DSL^ network will also have unlimited data with our reach of Optus Reach bundles. So, no matter which new bundle they choose, customers now have the freedom of unlimited data.”

For customers connected to the NBN, Optus’ cable or ADSL 2+ networks, they have choices among the new bundles, namely, My Basics, My Entertainment and My Entertainment Plus. Those who are on the Optus DSL network can choose between Reach Basics and Reach Entertainment Plus, both with unlimited data.

More information can be found on Optus’ site.

Last week, Optus announced data-free music streaming for their prepaid customers. The mobile music service allows prepaid users to use selected streaming apps without eating on their data allowance from May 2. The streaming mobile apps included in the data-free promo are Google Play Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Guvera and Spotify. Apple Music, which is already under Telstra deal, is noticeably excluded from the list.
