For hitting a police officer in the eye with a bloody tampon, a Connecticut woman was charged with assaulting an officer, interfering with police and public indecency. The assailant, 22-year-old Imani Brown, was held on a $100,000 bail by the police.

Brown and 27-year-old Mackenzie Bruno were caught on Wednesday by the unidentified Bridgeport cop with having sex on Wednesday on Main Street. The couple were naked when caught having intercourse in the front seat of a van, reports the New York Post.

When the cops broke up the couple, Brown opened the vehicle’s door and cursed and shouted at the police officer. She then attacked one of them with a bloody tampon by jabbing one of the officers on the eye with the tampon that she picked from the ground.

Bruno was also charged with public indecency and disturbing the peace. However, he was allowed to be out on a $1,000 bail. By hitting the officer on the eye with a bloody tampon picked from the ground, Brown placed the cop at a double risk.

Hitting the eye could result in visual damage to the cop. He could also develop infection because the tampon, besides being bloody – likely from menstrual blood – brings with it a lot of germs and bacteria since it was lying on the ground.

About 50 percent of menstrual fluid is blood and the rest is made up of cervical mucus, vaginal secretions and endometrial tissue. The blood component contains sodium, calcium, phosphate, iron and chloride. The risk to the cop of being exposed to menstrual fluid was if the woman who used the tampon had only bloodborne illness, but since it was picked from the ground, the tampon likely carried with it other risks, according to Wikipedia.
