“Neighbours” recap

Once released from prison, Paul had a warm homecoming at the Rebecchi house with Amy, Jimmy, Steph, Charlie and Toadie. Alone with Steph, Paul expressed his desire to work at the motel again and get filthy rich. Steph reminded that he owed her $100,000. Paul promised to give back half by the end of the week. Later at the café, Paul geared up for a tell-all interview with a cadet reporter from the West Waratah Star . Paul saw Gary, who apologised for leaving him in the lurch. Paul said it’s all water under the bridge. However, Sheila warned Gary that Paul is not the type of person to let go of grudges that easily.

In the middle of the interview, Paul asked the reporter to get more drinks. He then hacked the newspaper’s site using the reporter’s login and password. Once in the database, Paul changed the story into a highly damaging article. He then lashed at Penny, the editor of the newspaper, citing that his reputation has been besmirched with the news piece. He threatened Penny with legal action and tried to bargain with her: she has to pay him $50,000, fire the cadet and hire someone he’ll recommend. The editor reluctantly agreed. Paul then called his niece, Madison, to jump on a plane and return to Erinsborough.

Later, Madison arrived, surprising Amy. Madison was ecstatic about the job opportunity, given that cadetship is impossible to score. At Harold’s Gary walked in on Paul, Amy and Madison. Gary shared his hardships about searching for a job and Paul offered him one – to be a caretaker at Robinson’s. Gary happily accepted the job. Shortly after, Steph walked in the café and Paul presented her with the cheque that he promised. She agreed to take him on as a business partner again.

Meanwhile, Terese confided with Brad about Paul. She said she wanted to approach him and apologise but she just couldn’t do it after everything that she put her through. Brad reassured her that she wouldn’t have known, given the incriminating evidence. Later, Terese went to the motel to apologise to Paul. She explained her side, citing the evidence, but Paul didn’t budge. “I would have given you anything. I would have done anything for you and I thought you felt the same way,” Paul said, seething with anger. Terese professed her love for Paul and begged for his forgiveness. However, Paul brushed her off, saying it’s too late. “Whatever we had, it’s gone,” Paul concluded.

Elsewhere, Walter told Sonya and Toadie that they’re leaving for Sydney that afternoon and try treatment at a regular hospital. When Zoe complained of feeling ill, they all brought her to the hospital where they learned that her immune system has further weakened. Karl pulled Sonya aside to talk to her privately and wondered whether Toadie didn’t know about Nell getting tested. She admitted that she kept it under wraps and she just wanted to rule out that possibility. Karl then told her she got a bigger problem: Nell turned out to be a perfect match for Zoe.

Walter begged Toadie and Sonya to get Nell tested, considering that Zoe’s condition is getting worse. Backed in a corner, Sonya was forced to reveal that she had already Nell tested behind Toadie’s back and she turned out to be a match. Karl said Nell could donate with parental consent. Toadie said he won’t give permission for the transplant. Walter pleaded, but Toadie was adamant – he wanted to prioritise Nell’s welfare before anything else. Later, Toadie continued to be upset over Sonya’s decision.

At the hospital, Walter volunteered to pick up Nell from daycare so he could say goodbye to her properly before he and Zoe head back to Sydney. Sonya, wracked with guilt, said yes. Later, Toadie lashed at Sonya again for her decision. At home, they didn’t find Walter and Zoe as expected. When Toadie saw Walter and Nell’s bags gone, he assumed that Walter took Nell with them.
