The new entrant BlackBerry Z3 has recently been launched in Indonesia and India. The next set of release is scheduled for South Africa followed by Nigeria. Other countries can expect to see this handset later this year. The Moto G, meanwhile, was released in the last quarter of 2013. In addition, the company also launched a 4G version of Moto G in May 2014. Display, Exterior and Size

The Moto G comes with 4.5-inches IPS LCD display bundled with 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 features a bigger 5.0-inches IPS LCD display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. The pixel density of BlackBerry Z3 and Moto G stand at 220 ppi and 329 ppi respectively.

When it comes to exterior, the Moto G comes with a sharp HD display that stretches from edge-to-edge to all corners of the handset. In addition, the Motorola handset has a plastic body. Similar to other BlackBerry handsets, the BlackBerry Z3 has a solid build. As NDTV puts it, "the Z3 is ridiculously good looking and its construction quality is impeccable." When it comes to the front, BlackBerry has used smooth glass with less bezel space surrounding the display. Notably, the back panel of Z3 is made of textured plastic that gives the look of a rubberized back.

For extra protection, 2014 Moto G (4G) variant comes with a water-resistant coating protecting the phone inside and outside. It is worth noting that, the protection is just a coating and hence there is no IP67 certification.Also, the thickness and the weight of Moto G are 0.46 inches and 143 g respectively, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 is 0.36 inches thick and weighs 164 g.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The latest BlackBerry Z3 is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Krait processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The Moto G, on the other hand, is powered by a superior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Moreover, the Moto G houses only 1 GB of RAM, while BlackBerry Z3 comes with a 1.5 GB of RAM.

The Moto G (4G) variant runs on Android OS v4.4.2 (KitKat), while the 2013 Moto G model runs on Android OS v4.3 (Jelly Bean). However, both the models are upgradable to higher Android versions. The BlackBerry Z3, meanwhile, runs on BlackBerry v10.2.1 OS.

The Moto G comes with 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage with no microSD slot. Nevertheless, the 4G variant of Moto G houses microSD slot for expansion up to 32 GB. Even though, the BlackBerry Z3 offers only 8 GB of internal storage, it supports microSD card for expansion up to 32 GB.

Camera and Battery

Both the phones sport 5 MP rear-facing cameras with LED flash. In addition, the Moto G houses a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, while the BlackBerry Z3 houses a 1.1 MP front-facing shooter.

Also, the Moto G houses a good non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh battery unit, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 houses a relatively better 2500 mAh non-removable battery unit.

Connectivity, SIM and Colour

Both the phones come equipped with Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, and USB charging facility. In addition, both the handsets support micro-sim. It is worth noting that, while several variants of Moto G supports dual-sim mode, the BlackBerry handset doesn't. Furthermore, both the handsets do not come with Micro HDMI port. Notably, it is one of the unique features of BlackBerry handsets and the BlackBerry Z10 comes with this port.

The Moto G comes with a black/white front panel but the back panel is customizable with six different colour options, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 comes in black at this point, although white coloured Z3 is awaited.

Price

The 2013 Moto G 8 GB (without 4G LTE) variant can be purchased at AU$249.95, while the Motorola Moto G (4G) 8 GB is priced at AU$299.95 in Australia. The BlackBerry Z3 (8 GB), on the other hand, is available for Rs 15,990 in India that roughly translates to US$265 and AU$283, according to FlipKart.
