Microsoft is trying to boost the sales of its Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL by offering one year of subscription to Office 365 as free. It seems that the devices haven’t seen sales as expected by Microsoft.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL run on Windows 10 and have high-end specifications. The company has reduced the prices of both devices several times and offered few freebies too, but didn’t fetch good sales, notes Tech Times.

Now Microsoft is offering free access to Office 365 Personal for one year, which generally costs US$69.99 (about AU$102). Availing it would save a considerable amount on subscription. The deal is applicable to all new owners and recent owners of the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL.

Lumia owners can simply download it manually from the store and select the "1 year Office 365" option on the "available offers" list. Instructions on installation will be sent to the user's email id, which will be used by the Lumia offers app, cites BetaNews.

"If you've recently purchased a new Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL or if you purchase one soon, claim your one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal," Microsoft blog notes

The Redmond-based company claims that the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are power-packed performers, which has potent hardware specs.

Moreover, since the devices run on Windows 10 it included features such as Cortana and Continuum. These features allow the users to work efficiently similar to that of PC, and the free subscription to Office 365 would help users to make the most of the OS.

Tech Times cites that the free subscription is valid in certain markets only and it includes the US, the UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.

"Valid with the purchase of new Lumia 950 or 950 XL and offer registration from November 20, 2015 to June 30, 2016, or while supplies last," Microsoft explains it on its page.

Microsoft also offers unlocked version of Lumia 950 XL which has a free Display Dock, and it is valid till Jan. 31.
