Fans will be able to enjoy Live-action "Attack on Titan" on the big screen next summer. Shinji Higuchi, director stated that it will be released in the form of two films.

According to Anime News Network, the filming is currently happening in Hashima Island, Nagasaki Prefecture in Japan. Also, Hajime Isayama, manga creator is being consulted for the story of the two films.

The new films will introduce new and fiercer enemies as well as new characters. The man writing the script is Yuusuke Watanabe who is renowned for live-action "Gantz," "Gantz II: Perfect Answer," "Gatchaman," "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" and "20th Century Boys."

Along with Isayama and Watanabe, Tomohiro Machiyama (film critic) is also working on the scripts of the two films.

Who will be playing the iconic lead character in the films?

Haruma Miura was declared as the lead star and it is possible that he will portray Eren Jaeger.

Kiko Mizuhara known for "Norwegian Wood," Hiroki Hasegawa starred in "Jellyfish Princess,"Kanata Hongō known for "Princess of Tennis," Satoru Matsuo, Nanami Sakuraba, Pierre Taki, Jun Kunimura, Ayame Misaki, Shu Watanabe and Rina Takeda will be seen in live-action "Attack on Titan."

"Attack on Titan" manga showcases the war between giants and humans. The giants rule the world outside the humans' walled colonies. The story revolves around how Eren Jaegar, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert. The wall protecting Eren's town is demolished by a 60-meter Colossus Titan. Eren's mother is killed in front of his eyes by a Titan.

Eren and his friends reach a safe place and he makes a determination to kill all the Titans. Later, he joins the military force.

In 2009, Isayama released the series in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. According to Anime News Network, "Attack on Titan" manga has 40 million copies in print edition.
