The Motorola DROID Turbo has recently been released, whereas the well-specced LG G3 was released in June. Readers who are interested in the Motorola DROID Turbo or the LG G3 should check out this comparison.

Display, Design And Size

Motorola's DROID Turbo features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display, packed with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels Quad HD resolution and this translates to a pixel density of 565 ppi. The LG G3, meanwhile, shares the same Quad HD screen resolution as the DROID handset, but the display size is slightly bigger at 5.5-inch. And therefore, the pixel density comes down to 534 ppi.

When it comes to design, the LG G3 smartphone comes with a plastic exterior, nonetheless, the metallic-effect on the plastic body makes sure the device gets the premium-look. In general, the highlight of the G3 is its killer display. A big display complemented by a brilliant Quad HD resolution provides stunning viewing experience. Notably, the back panel housed on the handset is removable, Tech Radar writes.

The Turbo handset, on the other hand, has taken the battery war seriously and it aims to rectify the battery problems dominating the current-generation devices. Is Apple listening? And hence, the Turbo features a killer 3,900 mAh battery unit, which has the capability to provide up to 2 days of battery life. This also means that, the DROID's battery is 1,000 mAh+ more than the iPhone 6 Plus configuration and nearly 800 mAh more than the Galaxy Note 4. On the exterior design, the phone looks identical to the Motorola Moto X, housing the same plastic chassis, Mashable describes.

Speaking of size, the thickness and weight of LG's flagship handset are 0.35-inch and 149 g, respectively, whereas the Motorola device is 0.31-inch thick and weighs 169 g. While the LG G3 is comparatively lighter, the DROID Turbo is relatively thinner.

Hardware, Software And Memory

This is an area where the recently released DROID device hits a homerun. The Turbo is powered by the latest quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) Krait 450 processor, clocked at 2.7 GHz and Adreno 420 GPU. The LG G3, meanwhile, is powered by a relatively inferior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. Moreover, the Motorola handset is backed by a solid 3 GB of RAM, whereas LG offers 2 or 3 GB of RAM options based on the built-in storage choice.

On the software side, the Turbo runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS, nonetheless, there is a planned upgrade to version 5.0 Lollipop in the offing. Meanwhile, the LG G3 runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS. While the Motorola device comes equipped with 32 GB and 64 GB of storage option, the LG G3's 16 GB variant comes with 2 GB of RAM and the 32 GB variant comes with 3 GB RAM configuration. Also, the Turbo does not support microSD card, whereas the LG handset supports up to 128 GB.

Camera And Battery

The DROID Turbo houses an impressive 21 MP rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash and 4K video support. Plus, there is also a 2 MP secondary unit at the front. On the other hand, the LG G3 features a 13 MP primary unit with dual-LED flash, 4K video support and optical image stabilisation, in addition to a 2.1 MP front-facing unit.

With G3, LG has worked hard on the camera software. Unique G3 features include "Laser Autofocus Sensor" and "Selfie Mode." As the name implies, the laser autofocus sensor is so quick that it uses only 0.276 seconds to focus an object/person, notes LG. As far as the battery goes, the Turbo wins with a solid Li-Po 3,900 mAh unit on board, whereas the LG G3 houses a relatively inferior Li-Ion 3000 mAh unit.
