Launch of Huawei Mate 8 teased for Nov. 26

A new teaser reveals the Huawei event on Nov. 5 isn’t going to be the platform where the company unveils its latest flagship, the Mate 8. It seems Huawei will concentrate on unveiling its new home made Kirin 950 chipset for high-end devices.

The latest teaser contains the number 8, the date that confirms the Huawei Mate 8 will be released on Nov. 26. The smartphone is expected to ship with the latest Kirin 950 SoC.

In August, the Kirin 950 has surpassed the scores of Samsung’s Exynos 7420 at the Geekbench benchmark test, reports Phone Arena. Fabricated on TSMC’s 16 nm FinFET process, the octa-core chip features four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores coupled with Mali T-880 GPU.

Samsung’s latest Exynos 7420 chipset powers the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

The high-end chip supports 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Cat.10 4G LTE connectivity. Another report in Android Headlines states the Kirin 950 chip will also come packed with an i7 co-processor and the Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 independent audio DSP.

Huawei Mat 8 is expected to be shipped with a 6-inch QHD display screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The device is said to house 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM paired with 32 GB or 64 GB of native memory, respectively. The smartphone touts a 21 MP rear camera along with optical image stabilisation, an 8 MP front-facing selfie snapper and a gigantic 4000+ mAh battery.

The Huawei Mate 8 with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal memory will reportedly go for CNY 3,299 (AU$722 or US$520). The 64 GB variant with 4 GB of RAM will come with a price tag of CNY 3,899 (AU$847 or US$610).
