'The Last Kingdom'
a still from season 2 of BBC TV series "The Last Kingdom." The Last Kingdom

A new teaser trailer of “The Last Kingdom” season 3 has been released online. The war continues, with a new Dane rising as a powerful warlord, threatening to destroy all the remaining Saxon kingdoms in his path. Uhtred’s (Alexander Dreymon) brother Ragnar the Younger (Tobias Santelmann) is back, and he will be getting a bigger role this time around.

After finding a new home at Netflix, the popular medieval saga of Uhtred continues. The new teaser trailer [see below] shows the Danes rallying together under a new leader, and they are thirsty for blood.

Defending the Saxon kingdoms is King Alfred (David Dawson). Now old and weary, the king still has the dream of a united England. The trailer talks about kings being made and kings dying. It remains to be seen who will live and who will go to Valhalla.

Just like before, there will be multiple battles and skirmishes on the show. Uhtred will be in the thick of some of these battles. The only difference this time around may be that he will be fighting alongside his brother.

Uhtred is joined by his trusted friend and supporter Beocca (Ian Hart). The trailer shows a very brief scene of Beocca, and in this scene the character can be seen wielding an axe and rushing into battle.

Young Ragnar too is keen on battle. “Let it begin,” Ragnar says in the trailer. It remains to be seen where the two brothers will fight, and against whom. Will Uhtred be forced to face King Alfred’s forces on the battlefield?

“The Last Kingdom” season 3 is set to air sometime this year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date. Netflix has announced that the show is “coming soon” to the network. Since the promo of the TV series has already started, an announcement can be expected soon.
