Jon Bon Jovi opening a community restaurant

Jon Bon Jovi has ventured into the restaurant business by opening the "Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen" in Redbank, New Jersey. The restaurant is unlike your average celebrity-invested venue as its ethos is simply to 'pay what you can'. The aim of the project is to provide low-income families with a place to eat healthy food rather than rely on unhealthy and cheap fast-food.

The kitchen has been in operation for over two years in various different locations and now has a permanent residence in Redbank, near Bon Jovi's hometown of Sayreville. The interior is far removed from a traditional soup kitchen, with Bon Jovi describing it as, "the coolest brasserie in your home town".

At the restaurant the customers are welcome to pay for their meals, but the option is also open to volunteer in the kitchen should you not be able to pay anything. It is an admirable move by Jon Bon Jovi, who has looked at what is needed for the community rather than what is needed for himself.
