John Bolton, former United States’ ambassador to the United Nations, berated Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton during the South Carolina Freedom Summit on Saturday, May 9, saying Clinton should be disqualified from presidential race. Bolton cited the incident in Libya, where Clinton as the secretary of state at that time, failed to protect the Americans.

“She didn’t stay in a way the six secretaries of state that I worked for would have stayed. They would have stayed there all night to protect our people in danger overseas. Hillary Clinton went home. That act alone disqualifies her from being president of the United States,” Bolton admonished.

Bolton referred to Clinton’s performance in handling the Benghazi incidence. He commented that “not only was nothing done, the response of administration was to go home.” Bolton remarked that President Barack Obama left the situation room at the Oval office and went to the residence, while Clinton left her office and went home.

Bolton continued that Clinton did not even bother to call the defence secretary to know the embassy’s status during the Islamic militant’s attack on the U.S consular compound in Benghazi, Libya killing the then Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith.

The former ambassador did not stop himself from expressing his frustration for the incident especially that according to him, the U.S. government apprehended only one person — out of several who were responsible for the attack— who was brought back for a criminal proceeding. Bolton engaged his audience by asking them questions such as what kind of lesson Obama’s administration sent to the terrorists throughout the world or to the sponsors of terrorism in every state.

Bolton went on and answered his own questions: “It says an American ambassador, who is the personal representative of the president of the United States overseas, can be murdered by a group of terrorists with complete impunity.” He also rebuked the incumbent president and said that “under Barack Obama, you can kill his personal representative, and he does nothing. That is the lesson that it sends.”

Even when Clinton declines in answering the questions, Bolton said it will not make any difference and warned that her refusal to answer will be construed against her. “As we get closer to November 2016, we are never going to let her forget that,” Bolton was quoted by Breitbart.
