Samsung planned to update the Galaxy Mini 2 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but no confirmation of any dates when will this happen. Owners of the handset may update their Galaxy Mini 2 to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using CyanogenMod 10.1 series.

Requirements:

1. This ROM is compatible with Galaxy Mini 2 S6500. Do not flash this ROM to any other device or suffer unexpected consequences.

2. Make a backup of all your personal settings and data files on your device.

3. Battery level must be at least 50 per cent to avoid power interruption.

4. Enable USB Debugging mode on your phone.

5. Root and install ClockworkMod recovery on your Galaxy Mini 2.

6. Download and install USB drivers on your computer.

7. Download CM 10.1 Android 4.2.2 custom ROM and Google Apps package on your computer.

Flashing Instructions

1. Connect your Galaxy Mini 2 to your computer using a USB cable.

2. Copy the downloaded CM 10.1 and Google Apps zip files on the SD card of your handset and do not extract them.

3. Disconnect the phone from the computer and turn it off.

4. Press and hold the Volume up + Home + Power keys to reboot into Recovery mode.

5. Inside the Recovery mode, create a nAndroid backup of the current ROM. Select "backup and restore > backup."

6. Now perform a full wipe, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition."

7. Then install by the ROM by selecting "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card." Choose the CM10.1 custom ROM and confirm the installation. Do the same with the Google Apps zip file.

8. After the installation, go back to the main menu and select "reboot system now."

9. Wait till the boot finishes which may take at least 5 minutes.

Well done! Your Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 is now running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with CyanogenMod 10.1.
