In “Girl Meets World” Season 3 Episode 7, Riley (Rowan Blanchard) was expecting that Maya’s (Sabrina Carpenter) rebellious side will come back, after the latter shared that she plans to do something bad. Maya wanted to explore her personality more after she has been doing quite well in school.

During the episode, titled “Girl Meets True Maya,” a fire alarm erupted in school and money was missing at Topanga’s (Danielle Fishel) place. Although many suspected that Maya was behind the deeds, it turned out that she was not responsible. Maya is still trying to explore herself more and trying to get away from her tendency to copy her best friend.

At one point, Maya went to a park that she frequented when she was younger. She confronted Carla and Renee, two girls from her past, who expected Maya to be the same troublemaker that she used to be. However, they were surprised that Maya was no longer the same girl.

Officer James (Reginald VelJohnson) returned her to the Matthews’ apartment and charged her with vandalism. The officer proceeded to show everyone Maya’s work, which proved that Riley has actually been a good influence to her.

Maya painted a mural with a lot of colors and the word “Hope.” Maya told Riley that she was holding a brick that she wanted to throw through a window but a thing inside her, which she refers to as “Dorothy,” compelled her not to.

Officer James decided to let Maya off scot-free as long as she does not get involved in trouble again. The presence of the good police officer also hinted at the current political scene in the country where cops are getting blamed for immediately seeing the worst in people. Simply put, the park was very important to Officer James, but he opted to let Maya go as long as she understood her lesson.

Maya is starting to learn how to channel right and wrong better. Riley has certainly been a great motivator and supporter, allowing Maya to avoid bad company and make better decisions for her own benefit, as well as the people around her.

“Girl Meets World” will air next on July 22, 2016 on Disney. It also airs on Disney Australia.
