Kristian Nairn talked about the possibility of reprising his role as Hodor in “Game of Thrones” Season 7, in a recent interview. The actor said that he would personally like to return as a White Walker, but that may not be the right thing for his character.

[Spoiler alert]

Hodor sacrificed his life to save his friends in a highly emotional scene in the previous season. But, there is a possibility that the character may return, because the Night’s King was present nearby at the time of the death of the character.

The Night’s King has the ability to resurrect dead people. However, in an interview with Independent, Nairn said that he would lie to return as a White Walker, but that “would be wrong.” The actor explained that there are too many emotions tied up to the character to bring him back that way.

“A zombie Hodor is not a pretty thought,” Nairn said. However, the actor doesn’t really know what happens next on the show. He conceded that there is a possibility that his character will return in “Game of Thrones” Season 7. He felt that if they choose to bring him back, the writers would do it in a “really cool way.”

Talking about the powers of Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright), Nairn pointed out that the character can influence past events. He teased that this power can be “devastating” or “remarkably useful.” One fan theory about Bran is that he was the one who caused the madness of King Aerys II. Nairn said that this was a “cool theory” and that he liked it a lot.

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 is expected to premiere in April 2017. The show may now focus on the White Walker invasion in earnest. Nairn feels that the final war will leave a “majority” of the people dead and the Iron Throne may have to be melted down for metal. The actor pointed out how difficult it is to beat the Night’s King, and said that he has no idea how someone can deal with the villain’s powers of resurrection.
