"Man of Steel's" Henry Cavill is certainly earning a lot of nods for the part of Christian Grey since the debut of the "Superman" film remake. However, Cavill is becoming more of a fan favourite all thanks to his single status. With Kaley Cuoco officially out of Henry's life, Cavill has become the strongest contender for the role of Grey.

With the chatter that Ian Somerhalder of "The Vampire Diaries" is officially out of the running for the role of Grey, Henry Cavill may be the strongest contender for the part. Add to the fact that Cavill is single then this factor has greatly aided a boost in Cavill's rank.

Of course, Cavill has already been an early favourite for the lead role in the film adaptation with his perfectly chiselled abs and smouldering stare. Like Somerhalder, Cavill also expressed interest in the part stating it would in no way tarnish the "Superman" franchise.

"As an actor I don't think it should stop me from doing roles which may be great stories," said Cavill, adding, "I'm very much a storyteller, I enjoy telling stories and if there is a wonderful story to tell than I don't think having played the role of Superman will necessarily stop me from telling that story. The chances are it will very much be a different vehicle than what Superman is, so it won't damage any of that character...because they'll see two very different things on screen."

Fans may recall that this has not been Cavill's first time to speak of the film. Back in May, Henry had opened up about the part during a press conference.

"Put it this way, I've not read a script, spoken to a producer or a director. Not exactly chaste writing is it. I've always preferred the implied sex scene anyway, because having it spelled out always seems a bit tacky. Sex is so readily available to us in every form of media now, so it's no longer that exciting on screen," said Cavill.

With all the redeeming factors plus the fact that he's single, will E.L. James choose Henry Cavill for the coveted part of Christian Grey? Fans can only hope. For now, check out the slideshow to see more of this "Man of Steel" star.
