Fairfax Media will launch a new app named ‘Skim’ that will get latest news, popular coverages, stories and regular updates from various news organizations to the Apple Watch. This app brings news headlines, alerts, scores of live matches, weather report on the Apple Watch. The news stories can be saved on the watch for the readers to read it at a time suitable to them, as per reports.

According to a report on The Sydney Morning Herald, Fairfax is the first publisher in Australia to launch an app for the Apple Watch. The Sydney Morning Herald report quoted Fairfax mobile director Stefan Savva saying, "Skim is one of a number of mobile products we are working on and are really excited about the potential that wearable computers like the Apple Watch could have."

Apart from delivering latest news on politics, sports, business, technology, entertainment and world. Skim will also feature related content like videos, photos, social media notifications and breaking news alerts. The smartphone app also offers a range of sponsorship options to advertisers.

The ‘Skim’ iPhone and Apple Watch apps are available as free downloads from the App Store on iPhone and from the Apple Watch App Store respectively beginning April 24. While the Fairfax subscribers can avail unlimited access to the apps, non-subscribers will get 10 articles a month, free of cost.

Smart watches are emerging as a different form factor and once the Apple Smart Watch is released, numerous apps can be expected when the wearable product from Apple is released. According to a report on News Ok, some of the other apps to watch out for in the upcoming Apple Smart Watch are Twitter, Apple Pay, Maps, Shazam, Instagram, Messages, Honeywell Lyric, Target, Evernote, Citymapper, Siri, American Airlines, Trip Advisor, Green Kitchen, eBay, Redfin, ESPN, Mint, Fandango, Rules!, Mayo Clinic Synthesis, Music and Open table.

Last month, Apple had announced at an official event that the Apple Watch would go on sale from April 24 but owing to high demand of the upcoming wearable product from Apple, the company has delayed the availability of the Apple Watch.
