Not one to back down from her previous statements, Demi Lovato has again spoken up about Hollywood cliques and the unrealistic beauty and lifestyle standards they set. She particularly dissected Taylor Swift, which provided her with plenty of backlash from fans of the “Bad Blood” singer.

In an interview with Glamour, which has Lovato on the cover of its November issue, the 24-year-old musician held almost nothing back as she voiced out her opinion on the state of Hollywood girl groups. Lovato particularly talked about feminism and how her colleagues could help the issue. She even slightly jeered at one of Hollywood’s biggest sweethearts while doing so.

The publication asked how Lovato is a feminist, particularly because she previously threw shade at Swift. “Don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work,” she was quoted as saying. On her part, Lovato did not back down and stuck to her original statement.

“I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand,” she said. “To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like.”

When pressed on the issue, the Disney alum talked about a more specific incident. “I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment,” she said.

She then went on to discuss her beliefs regarding body image and substance abuse, even drawing from her personal experiences. “Now some days it’s difficult, [and] some days it’s easy,” she admitted. “But I like to focus on what I’m doing now, which is giving back.”

After the interview made its rounds, the public started to question Lovato’s motives. Once again, the musician was unapologetic for what she said. She went on to state that questions were asked and she simply gave her answers.

And while it may seem like the “Cool For The Summer” singer is taking the high road, she has since confirmed a break from Hollywood, music and the media.

When a fan asked if she would be coming back, Lovato answered that she is unsure at this point. “It doesn’t feel worth it anymore,” she replied.
