Dell is currently working on a 2-in-1 tablet called the Dell XPS 12. The high-end specs of the device clearly indicate that it has been designed to take on the upcoming Surface Pro 4 laptop-tablet hybrid from Microsoft.

The Dell XPS 12 is fitted with a 12.5-inch Sharp IGZO display panel that supports 4K resolution. It will be delivering a pixel density of 352 ppi along with 400 nits brightness. Rumours have it that Dell will be releasing another variant of the tablet with a 12.5-inch screen that supports full HD resolution, Windows Central reported.

The XPS 12 will be powered by the Intel Core M Skylake chipset. It is the same rumoured chipset that will be powering the Surface Pro 4. It will arrive with M.2 SATA SDD that will be available in different storage versions.

The rear camera of the Dell XPS 12 will be of 8 MP whereas the front-facing camera will be of 5 MP. For connectivity, the device will offer features like dual-band Wi-Fi, v4.1 Bluetooth, SD card reader and two Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C slots. An optional variant of the tablet with LTE support will also be available.

The laptop-tablet hybrid from Dell will be featuring a 30-watt-hourbattery. However, the detail on the battery duration is not available yet. With the battery, the device weighs only 790 grams.

As far as accessories are concerned, the Dell XPS 12 will be arriving with a Dell Active Pen stylus. There will be two kinds of optional keyboards available for the XPS 12, one will be smaller and thinner (1.3 mm) keyboard and the other one will be a full-sized keyboard that will come with backlight, a glass trackpad and additional connectivity options like USB Type-C, two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI out.

The Dell XPS 12 is slated to get announced at the Dell World 2015 event that will be held at Austin, Texas, U.S. As of this writing, the pricing and availability of the device is not known yet, Phone Arena reported.
