The folks over at “Chicago PD” sure know how to start a new year with a bang. This time, they are bringing a lot more, as exciting crossovers with dense storylines are set to kick off 2017.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Chicago PD” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the next episode airs.

On the January 3 episode of “Chicago PD,” titled “Don’t Bury This Case,” viewers got to see the continuation of the “Chicago Fire” crossover. Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) asked Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) if Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) has asked for the assistance of a lawyer -- and she responds with a no. Voight asked if all this is all right for Erin, who responds that they only dated for a very short time. She noted that the only reason why Severide has not asked for a lawyer is that because she will be at the interview.

Later on, Severide reveals that he had donated blood for the bone marrow transplant, but it was cancelled because the chemo had adverse effects on Anna (Charlotte Sullivan). He then admitted that he went to a bar and did not keep count of how many bottles he had. When asked about it, Severide reveals that he does not remember when he got in his car. He also confirmed that he really did black out and implies that it was the blood donation or the alcohol that did all that.

Later on, Severide gets informed that his car hit another and that there is even a young mother and child in critical condition. Severide will insist that if he, indeed, hit another vehicle, he would remember. Voight will point out that he does not even remember how he had a cut on his head.

As for the January 4 episode, titled “Don’t Read The News,” actor Tony Crane is set to appear as Jimmy, who happens to be Lindsay’s estranged father. As for Lindsay, spoilers reveal that she will cross paths with her former boyfriend. The official synopsis notes that after the body of a young woman gets found with multiple gunshot wounds, the team uncovers details that are similar to other deaths.

This upcoming episode of “Chicago PD” airs on January 4 on NBC. In Australia, it airs on Foxtel.
