“Reckoning,” episode 15 of “Castle” Season 7, is a riveting episode that closes the chapter on 3XK mythology. Jerry Tyson wanted to prove that he is smarter than Rick Castle and that desire to prove led to his end. Also, Tyson’s accomplice Dr Kelly Niemen could not escape her own fatal fate at the hands of Kate Beckett. Here is what happened in episode 15 of “Castle” Season 7:

RECAP of “Reckoning”

Castle, Esposito and Ryan find Beckett’s car at the street where she had gone to meet Amy Barrett. The trio find “Help Her” written on the windshield. Castle and Ryan visit Michael Boudreau’s apartment. They find Tyson there. He insists that he is Boudreau and has no idea about Beckett’s whereabouts. Ryan stops Castle from attacking the man. Meanwhile, Dr Niemen tells Esposito the same story that she has no role in Beckett’s disappearance and she was at the precinct at that time.

Captain Gates is not completely sure that Boudreau is 3XK. She tells Castle that probably the man is telling the truth and Beckett is with the real Tyson. Castle, however, has no doubt that it is Tyson who is staying at Boudreau’s apartment, as he loves the thrill of the game. Later, he receives a call on his phone from Beckett, asking him to help her. When he and the team reach the payphone location, they find a voice recorder. It is soon revealed that it was a futile chase, as the recording is a spliced together audio from Beckett’s television interview that she gave when Castle had disappeared.

Castle visits Boudreau’s apartment again and this time solo. He knocks Tyson down to enter the apartment. Tyson sticks to his version of the story that he is Boudreau, not the serial killer. But, Castle is not buying that and he beats him up. And, he pulls out a gun and points at him, demanding to know Beckett’s whereabouts. Tyson, however, keeps claiming that he has got the wrong guy. Soon, the cops enter the apartment and ask Castle to drop the gun. Gates and the team have to book him on assault charges, as Tyson/Boudreau is pressing the charges against him. Later, Gates has a talk with Castle. She tells him to figure out Tyson’s story and his next move. Gates wants Castle to get inside Tyson's head. She unlocks Castle's handcuffs.

The next call from Tyson leads the team to Castle’s apartment. After the scare, Castle sends his mother and daughter out of the country, as he does not want to risk their lives. Later, Castle, Esposito and Ryan follow another trail that takes them to a building. For a moment, it looks like Beckett has been shot. However, it turns out that another drug addict has been killed.

Castle visits Tyson’s former cell-mate Marcus Grimes in the prison. He asks him about Tyson’s secret hideout. Marcus wants his freedom in exchange for the information. Castle cannot promise him that but tells him that he can finally get his revenge on Tyson. Marcus tells Castle the address and tells him to go alone to the location, as Tyson would kill Beckett if he sees cops. When Castle reaches the location, he sees Amy Barrett there. He later points a gun at her and asks her to get inside his car’s boot and closes it.

Castle enters the property and sees that Beckett is not there. There is a video feed of Beckett who has been gagged and can be seen strapped to a table. Tyson soon arrives. Castle tells him that the game is Tyson's way of proving that he is smarter than him. Castle soon reveals he let him play the game to lure him to his place. It is revealed that Castle has not come alone and he has a wire on him. When Tyson looks outside the window, pointing a gun in that direction, Esposito takes a shot and kills him, with a sniper rifle. Meanwhile, Dr Niemen is set to take Beckett's face, unaware that the homicide detective has worked on a screw to free one of her hands. Castle finds a shaken Beckett standing over the dead body of Dr Niemen.

At the 12th precinct, Gates informs Castle that it is unlikely that the assault charges againt him will be dropped. As punishment, he has to do 1000 hours of community service. Soon, she brings a smile on everyone's faces when she tells that Castle is returning to the precinct. As part of his community service, he will be serving as consultant to Beckett. Castle hugs Gates twice at the precinct.

Later at home, Castle tells Beckett that he can now imagine how hard it must have been for her when he had disappeared for two months. He tells Beckett that he will always find her.
