Meanwhile, Terry’s (Terry Crews) old flame takes over the precinct’s audit on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 4, episodes 14 (Brooklyn Nine-Nine 4x14).

Spoiler alert: This recap contains plot details about season 4 of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” The fourth season premiered Sept. 20. The series is available for Australian viewers to watch on SBS every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.

Lieutenant Veronica Hopkins (Kimberly Hebert Gregory) is now assigned to audit the Nine-Nine after Teddy (Kyle Bornheimer), Amy’s (Melissa Fumero) ex-boyfriend, withdrew himself from the undertaking last episode. Unfortunately for the squad, Terry also used to date Veronica, and she’s not over him yet. She vows to shut the precinct down, no matter what happens.

The squad tries to figure out what Terry might have done to Veronica to make her so mad. He himself can’t remember anything he did wrong before breaking up with her. Amy tries to have a girl talk with Veronica but gets quickly shut down.

Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) and Holt (Andre Braugher) attempt to talk to Veronica’s supervisor, the deputy commissioner, about their situation but they likewise get turned down. They then discover that the commissioner is on vacation with his “goddaughter,” and plan to more or less blackmail him. But when Holt tries to do the deed, Charles stops him and says they’re better off getting shut down than stay together and compromise who they are.

After roasting Terry for a while, Amy and Gina (Chelsea Peretti) ultimately make him remember the wrong thing he did to upset Veronica. He goes to her and apologises, but Veronica tells him that she has already turned in her report, and that it was “real bad.”

Meanwhile, Jake and Rosa are assigned to look into a case of burglary that transpired on the set of “Serve & Protect,” their favourite cop show. One of the show’s cast members, Cassie (Kelly Sullivan), lost her laptop that contained sensitive files. Gary (Greg Germann), the show’s executive producer, is deemed by Rosa as the primary suspect right off the bat since he and Cassie had been publicly fighting over contract disputes. Jake disagrees, but only because Gary gives him freebies on the set and offers him a job as the show’s consultant.

Mark (Nathan Fillion), the show’s other star, tries to join in on the investigation just because he’s been playing a detective for 15 years. Jake and Rosa then find CCTV footage of Gary coming out of Cassie’s trailer with a bag. They hand him a warrant, only to discover that the bag contains painkillers.

Afterwards, Jake finds out that Mark is the culprit when he sees him in an episode wearing gloves. The actor clearly mentioned he never wears those on the show while he “investigated” early on and touched Cassie’s laptop bag. They find the computer in the trunk of his car and arrest him. Mark intended to humiliate Cassie out of jealousy as she was rumoured to be getting a spinoff show.

Back at the Nine-Nine, the detectives watch the newest episode of “Serve & Protect,” where Cassie’s character guns down “the grossest perv of all time” named Jake Peralta. The real Jake is naturally happy that a TV character is named after him, even though it was Gary’s way of getting back at him for the false accusation and for saying that the show stinks.
