Smallville actor, Lee Thompson Young has been found dead and early reports claim suicide as cause of death. He was 29.

There is still no official results on the cause of death, but his manager, Paul Baruch issued a statement indicating that the actor who began his career as a teenage star for Disney Channel’s The Famous Jett Jackson, “tragically took his own life.”

“Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time,” Baruch said in a statement, according to TIME.

Police found his body was found at his own home at North Hollywood Monday morning. According to police spokesman, Sally Madera, the Los Angeles Fire Department was asked to check on him at his place when he failed to come for work on TNT’s crime drama, “Rizzoli & Isles.”

Madera also noted that the LAPD robbery-homicide division and the LA County coroner have also joined forces to investigate on his death since it involves a celebrity. No official report has been released by the police as of yet.

Officials from TNT and Warner Bros have also issued a statement expressing regret for losing a young talent.

“We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. … Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace,” said the statement issued by TNT, studio Warner Bros. and series producer Janet Tamaro.

In Rizzoli & Isles, Young plays the role of a detective Barry Frost, a “squeamish, computer savvy.” Aside from the TNT series, Young had already appeared in a number of hit TV series, including, “The Guardian,” “Scrubs,” and “Smallville.” He was also featured in “Akeelah and the Bee” and “The Hills Have Eyes II.”
