Megan Boone, who plays the starring role of Elizabeth Keen in “The Blacklist,” is pregnant with her first child with artist boyfriend Dan Estabrook. There are rumors that the third season of the show may be put on hold to ensure her and her baby’s good health, while others claim that her pregnancy may be written into the plot.

Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly that they are still trying to figure out how to manage the existing conditions.

“It plays a number of different ways, both story wise and physically, for Megan in trying to figure out what that would mean to the show,” Bokenkamp said. He added that Liz and Raymond Reddington’s (James Spader) relationship at present makes it difficult to come up with a pregnancy storyline. Red may be Liz’s father, and it is incredibly difficult to ignore the fact of Boone’s pregnancy when there is a parental relationship in the plot. They are still trying to determine what that can mean.

In the midseason finale of “The Blacklist” Season 3, titled “Kings of the Highway,” Liz was captured by agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff). In a recent trailer, she was shown inside a big glass box that looked similar to the one that used to hold Red, the Wall Street Journal states. The contents of the care package may finally be revealed. Red is still looking for a way to get Liz out of the FBI Post Office. Before Liz was trying to get away from the authorities, she slept with former husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold), which can be one way of writing the pregnancy into the story.

A Sony representative said that the show will still run for 22 episodes in the current season. Boone is reportedly three months pregnant and will be getting close to her due date when production for Season 3 closes. Fans are still speculating how the production team will be dealing with her character.

The next Season 3 episode, titled “The Director Part 1,” will air on Jan. 7, 2016 at 9PM ET on NBC. More updates and details on “The Blacklist” are expected in the coming days.
