It's November 2014 already and in just a few more weeks, it's time for Black Friday 2014, which officially starts on Nov. 28, 2014, the Friday after Thanksgiving Day. It used to be held only in the U.S. wherein various retail stores offer amazing sales and deals for customers. But now, even retailers from the UK are getting in on the fun, including Apple, Amazon UK, Asda and John Lewis. Read on to learn more about Black Friday 2014.

According to Mirror, it's not clear how Black Friday actually got its name. But, a lot of businesses reportedly detail their gains in black ink. And, during Black Friday, it has been observed that several retailers get a lot of profits at this time.

Even though Black Friday 2014 is on Nov. 28, 2014, some retailers will start offering discounts on their products as early as Monday, Nov. 24, 2014. DealNews reports that Walmart, Macy's and Best Buy will open their doors to customers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, which is Thanksgiving Day.

Meanwhile, some online stores will offer deals on Nov. 28, 2014 at midnight. In the U.S., some stores will reportedly open as early as 5:00 a.m. on Black Friday 2014. As for UK stores, they will open around 8:00 a.m.

Unfortunately, Black Friday is notorious for long lines at the stores, so it would be wise to just go online shopping during this time. But, for those of you who still prefer to go to the actual stores, then try to go there as early as you can, wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and bring lots of patience.

Fans of Apple can get reduced gift cards in the U.S. and great cash discounts in the UK. As for Amazon, make sure to visit their site and take advantage of the lightning deals, which are limited offers of amazing products at discounted prices. Watch out for these deals as early as Nov. 24, 2014.

On the other hand, John Lewis, an upscale department store chain in Great Britain, will offer sales on TVs, laptops and other gadgets and they will match their competitors' prices. As for Asda Stores Limited, a supermarket chain based in Britain and owned by Walmart, they are expected to jump in on the Black Friday bandwagon because of Walmart's successful Black Friday sales in the previous years.
