BioWare is gearing up for the release of its brand new action-adventure game and it will launch by April 2018, Electronic Arts (EA) CEO Andrew Wilson during an investor call. The game will feature new concepts, new stories, new universe, and new gameplay mechanics and may even have the ability to disrupt the action game space. This is a huge announcement considering the fact that BioWare has only about 14 months to accomplish all of this. Wilson further teased stating that the game will bring friends together to play in an exhilarating way.

According to GameSpot, gamers should not yet be overly excited about more information on title, platforms and settings until “Mass Effect: Andromeda” is released on March 21 on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. BioWare’s all new IP will fundamentally disrupt the way people think about action titles. The game will attract a global audience as it will blend genres. The new game will be a wholly-owned IP and not based on another company’s franchise.

Earlier in November 2016, BioWare’s manager Aaryn Flynn had hinted about a new IP but refused to reveal specifics as it was too early to say anything and he was focusing entirely on “Mass Effect: Andromeda” release. As EA revealed that the new titles will be genre-blending, it has brought into light a new concept that many game studios are adopting to attract a massive pool of players, even from other genres. BioWare’s 2018 title will reportedly have incredible components from various genres. They will all come together in a single game.

Wilson believes greater action and greater adventure will increasingly become larger categories in games and BioWare’s new title will cater to the category. Thus, fans who are expecting RPG character development and storyline progression should think twice, even though BioWare is known for that. Flynn has further added that “there's nothing quite as exciting as building a new IP from scratch, and it will be even more thrilling for us to share more with you in the future.”

“As we’re working hard to finish ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda,’ I wanted to take a minute to talk about our new IP. As our CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned, we’re creating a unique IP that will bring players together in exciting new waysIn 2012, we began crafting a new universe full of new characters, stories, and gameplay. Our ambition is simple: Draw upon 20+ years of development knowledge and lessons to create something fun and new for you to enjoy with your friends,” Flynn wrote in the BioWare Blog.
