“Arrow” star Stephen Amell has teased fans with the 2046 version of Oliver Queen for “Legends of Tomorrow.” The older version of Green Arrow – sporting a goatee, no less! – will meet the disparate group in an upcoming episode.

As previously reported, Amell will be playing his superhero character in the “Arrow” spin-off when Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) takes the present day heroes to the future. They will encounter the future Oliver Queen and Connor Hawke, Oliver’s son in the comics and who has also inherited the Green Arrow title.

“As an added bonus to comic book fans, Oliver is missing his left arm and will be sporting a goatee, in a nod to the character’s appearance in the seminal Dark Knight Returns,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement to Comic Book.

Fans are already looking forward to seeing the one-armed, goatee-sporting Oliver in the new series, a fact that Amell knew well. Hence, he has given fans several still images from the episode, which will air next week.

He captioned one of the images, which he posted on Facebook on Friday, “Old feuds die hard. Legends. Next week.” The photo shows Oliver facing an opponent, who can only be seen from the back. Many fans believe that the opponent is Deathstroke (Manu Bennett), though there’s no confirmation from the show yet.

From the episode’s title, “Star City 2046,” the group will be travelling to the year 2046, still the past for Rip, but decades in the future for the rest – Martin Stein/Firestorm (Victor Garber), Jax/Firestorm (Franz Drameh), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Sara/White Canary (Caity Lotz), Kendra/Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).

For this week, “Fall-Safe” continues the cliffhanger episode “White Knights” from last week. Mick, Ray and Stein were captured by Soviet Union scientist Valentina Vostok, who is working for Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). Stein knew Savage wouldn’t hurt him because he needs him to recreate the Firestorm technology, but with Rory and Ray being tortured, he has to decide whether or not to relent and help the bad guys.

“Legends of Tomorrow” airs Friday at 7:30 p.m. on Fox8 in Australia.
