The whole world is waiting for Apple to announce the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus flagship smartphones. However, the rumour mill has already started talking about the Apple iPhone 7 that will be released in 2016.

According to the well-known market analyst from KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino company is planning to build a very slim iPhone 7 for next year, Apple Insider reported. Its thickness is speculated to range between 6.0 mm to 6.5 mm.

The thickness of the sixth generation iPod Touch and the iPad Air 2 is 6.1 mm. It means that the next generation iPhone will be very slim like the current iPod Touch and iPad Air 2.

The thickness of the iPhone 6 from 2014 is 6.9 mm. However, the iPhone 6S is expected to be a thicker device as it is rumoured to measure 7.1 mm. Unlike the chassis of the iPhone 6 that is infamously known for bending easily, the case of the iPhone 6S will be built using the very strong series 7000 aluminum.

Like the iPhone 6S, the Force Touch display will also be available on the Apple iPhone 7. Kuo has also speculated that the iPhone 7 will be sporting a refreshed chassis design in order to distinguish it from the iPhone 6 handsets from 2014 and 2015.

According to a report from the International Business Times, the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will be coming with numerous upgraded features. Both the handsets are expected to feature higher resolution displays and the next generation Apple A9 chipset. The new SoC will be coupled by 2 GB of RAM.

The iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus will be coming with 12 MP rear cameras and on the front, both will be housing 5 MP selfie cameras. Apart from the usual colour variants like the space gray, gold and silver, Apple will be introducing a new rose gold colour option.
